Typically, you won’t need to do anything special to prepare for a DEXA scan. Once you get to the imaging center, your doctor will ask you to remove all metal objects from your body, like jewelry, hairpins, or change from your pockets. You may also be asked to stop taking calcium supplements 24 hours before your procedure.
