Postvasectomy testing is typically done to ensure the procedure was successful.
Seminal fluid should be collected by masturbation only. Collect entire ejaculate in the specimen container. Avoid the use of lubricants and other contaminants. Please obtain a specimen container from the lab prior to collection or verify with lab personnel which types of containers are appropriate. Avoid temperature extremes while transporting specimen. It is very important to screw the lid of the specimen container on tightly to avoid leakage or spills. Specimens should be taken to the lab as soon as possible after collection to ensure they are received by the testing site within 72 hours of collection.
