COVID-19 Antibody Test

This test is intended as an aid in identifying individuals with an adaptive immune response to SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), indicating recent or prior infection.

  • Sample Type: Blood
  • Results: 2-4 days
  • Age: 18+

This test can tell you whether or not your body has developed antibodies to the COVID-19 virus. It cannot tell you if you have a current infection. This test cannot detect your level of immunity to COVID-19, only whether or not antibodies are circulating in your bloodstream.

Since the immune system’s response to COVID-19 may not be fully detectable until 3-4 weeks after symptom onset or known exposure, an antibody test taken prior to that 3-4 week window can lead to a false-negative result. It is also possible to receive a false-positive result if the test detects antibodies from a related coronavirus, such as the common cold.

No special preparation is required. It usually takes around 10 to 18 days after being infected with SARS-CoV-2 for your body to produce enough antibodies for detection in the blood.
