Abnormalities in the urine could indicate a range of problems, from urinary tract infection (UTI), kidney disease, to other underlying conditions.

The Complete Urinalysis Test works by collecting a urine sample and measuring specific gravity, leukocyte esterase, reducing substances, occult blood, proteins, glucose, ketones, nitrates, bilirubin, yeasts, white and red blood cell counts, epithelial cells, crystals, casts, and bacteria in the urine. It is frequently ordered as part of a general wellness exam, or when a patient displays symptoms associated with a UTI or kidney disease, such as lower back or abdominal pain, frequent urination, or blood in the urine.

In addition to the above measurements, a complete urinalysis also analyzes the color and appearance of urine as well as the pH.
