Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) levels are detected in the blood soon after conception. This test measures these levels to determine pregnancy.

The quantitative pregnancy blood test is a more accurate method of determining pregnancy than over-the-counter tests that can be done at home. It can also detect pregnancy earlier than other tests. This test measures levels of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) in the blood, a hormone produced in the placenta at detectable levels 7 days after conception. This test is also a common screen for ectopic pregnancy, which can produce very low levels of hCG, or if a woman is pregnant with twins or triplets, which will produce high levels of hCG. This test can detect pregnancy 7 days after conception, but it is recommended to wait until 10 days post-conception for the most accurate results. Some supplements, such as biotin, can interfere with test results.

No fasting is required. Patient should stop biotin consumption at least 72 hours prior to the collection.
