Glucose, also known as blood sugar, enters the body through the food we eat. Our bodies' cells use it for energy. Insulin, a hormone produced in the pancreas, is responsible for transporting glucose throughout to your cells. The Glucose Blood Test works by collecting a blood sample and measuring levels of glucose, or blood sugar. It is often ordered as part of a routine health exam.
