Tissue Transglutaminase Antibody, IgA, is useful in diagnosing gluten-sensitive enteropathies, such as Celiac Sprue Disease, and an associated skin condition, dermatitis herpetiformis.

It is also recommended for individuals with certain autoimmune conditions that are associated with an increased risk of celiac disease, such as type 1 diabetes, autoimmune thyroid diseases, or Down syndrome.
