Estrone testing helps to investigate abnormal menstrual bleeding, evaluate ovary function, monitor hormones, or detect tumors.

  • Sample Type: Blood
  • Results: 2-7 days
  • Age: 18+

This test measures estrone levels in the blood. Estrone is one of the three primary types of estrogen. It is the primary estrogen in men and post-menopausal women. Estrone testing can be used for women to help diagnose early puberty, investigate abnormal menstrual bleeding, evaluate ovary function, monitor hormone replacement, or detect estrogen-producing tumors. Estrone testing is typically ordered for women investigating fertility issues, experiencing abnormal menstruation, or undergoing hormone therapy. This test may be ordered for boys experiencing delayed puberty or men with signs of testosterone deficiency.

No fasting required. No isotopes administered 24 hours prior to venipuncture.
